Prada astonishes the crowds at Milan Fashion Week

Uber-talented Italian designer Miuccia Prada introduced her floral spring/summer 2013 collection, which features origami-folded satin tops and skinny satin skirts, in her home city and revealed the intention of her latest range was to make it "more acceptable" for women to wear designs they usually can't "without being laughed at".

Together with the fur coats boasting big red flowery designs, there was an array of black and floral outfits - such as mini dresses and blouses - on show on the runway, complemented with wedge sandals and silver sock boots.

Miuccia explained: "I wanted height, but for them also to be completely flat."

The 63-year-old designer revealed the inspiration behind her collection was to create garments that depict an "impossible" combination of both women's "tough" nature as well and their "poetic" qualities. The clothes being the expression of this impossible dream."

Apart from Prada on the runway schedule was Max Mara showcasing their latest range of safari-style jumpsuits and shirts and Emporio Armani unveiling thigh-skimming short shorts, playsuits and oversized shirts.
