Carly Rae Jepsen to collaborate with fans

Carly Rae Jepsen" />Carly Rae Jepsen will have a "mass collaboration" with her fans for her brand new song which will broadcast on ‘American Idol in May.

The fans will vote for all of the aspects of her performance from which version of the song to perform to the stage design.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, she explained: "It's going to be this sort of mass collaboration with the fans, so basically, it wasn't just writing one song, it was like writing one song with three different versions. It was like those storybooks where there are alternate endings.

"The whole concept was we would create a song that all of the elements of the performance could be voted on - the clothing the dancers wear, the background, the setting of the stage design, the lighting, everything. I liked the idea. I actually spent three days cooped up in my hotel room in the Bahamas, mapping out this idea of a song called 'Take a Picture'."

The 27-year-old pop star - who is currently supporting Justin Bieber on his 'Believe' tour in Europe - admitted she is strong-willed and has her own favourites in the competition, but ultimately, she will have to go with whatever the fans decide.

She said: "It's going to be kind of fascinating for me to see what the outcome is. Being the opinionated woman and artist I am, I definitely have my favourite. It'll be interesting to see if I have the same opinion as the masses."
