Creative director Mathilde Castello Branco quits Azzaro
The French-Brazilian designer Mathilde Castello Branco has stepped down from her role as creative director of the fashion house after just over a year in the role. Her successor has not yet been named.
A statement from the brand said: "The House of Azzaro and Mathilde Castello Branco are moving forward in different directions. Azzaro will shortly be announcing her successor."
Mathilde previously worked with Alber Elbaz at Lanvin and at Hèrmes under Martin Margiela. Her next move has not been revealed yet.
Following her debut collection for Azzaro at couture fashion week earlier this year, Mathilde spoke about her desire to work with the best fabrics.
She said: "Martin Margiela taught me to see the importance of fabric. Once you start working with the finest cashmere or the most buttery soft leathers you never forget. It's like excellent food, once you taste it, you never forget - and it's hard to go back."
Celebrity fans of Azzaro include Natalie Portman, Enrique Iglesias and Jemima Khan.
